Meeting the Coaches

Allison Looney
Head Coach

 

Coach Looney grew up in northern Virginia and moved to north Texas in the middle of her 8th grade year.  She graduated from Marcus high school in Flower Mound and continued her education at the University of North Texas earning a degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Health.  She has also attained a Master degree in Education Leadership from American College of Education.

Coach Looney grew up swimming and swam all through high school focusing mainly on distance freestyle.  She started coaching in north Texas in USA swimming while in college and continued on until beginning her high school coaching career. She coached high school in Denison, Texas for four years before finding her new home at Plano West.  She is married and lives in Argyle with her husband Dan and her twins Heath and Quinn.

Amanda Poland
Assistant Coach

Coach Poland is a native of Longview, Texas and graduated from Pinetree High School. She graduated from University of North Texas with a major in Kinesiology and has also earned a Masters Degree in Athletic Administration from Concordia University and a Master Degree in Academic Administration from Stephen F. Austin University. Amanda swam competitively with her high school swim team. She was also a member of the University of North Texas’ Triathlon team. Her favorite stroke is Butterfly. Upon graduating from University of North Texas Coach Poland was head coach of Pinetree High School Swim Team for 2 years and Assistant Coach for Champion Aquatic Club swim team for 5 years. Coach Poland currently coaches PlayTri (a club team for triathlons) and enjoys competing in the triathlons.

Amanda Rieff
Head Diving Coach 

Coach Amanda Rieff is in her 3rd year as the Diving Coach for PISD. She has taught and coached for the past 14 years at Ursuline Academy and Lovejoy High School. During her coaching career she has won TAPPS swimming and diving state championship titles 4 times and produced several individual state champions. During the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school year she was recognized as the District 7 Diving Coach of the Year. Amanda is an alumna of Plano East Senior High where she swam for 3 years and was part of the record setting 200 freestyle relay. She is a graduate of Ball State University where she was a member of the Women’s Swimming and Diving Team. Coach Rieff can be contacted at: amanda.rieff@pisd.edu
